Kirkland Modern Update

Designed for a family that loves to entertain, this whole-home transformation reimagined the main level as a seamless gathering space centered around connection, views, and everyday living. Constrained by the existing footprint, the renovation focused on unlocking the home’s potential through strategic reconfiguration rather than expansion.

The kitchen was relocated to the former dining room, creating a spacious hub for cooking, conversation, and entertaining. In its place, the dining area now sits comfortably between the kitchen and living spaces, encouraging a more natural flow throughout the home. Vaulted ceilings and carefully considered sightlines enhance the sense of openness, while preserving the home’s connection to its western views.

A reworked circulation pattern, widened staircase, and relocated powder room allowed the main level to function more intuitively, creating a circular floor plan that feels expansive without sacrificing comfort. Throughout the home, thoughtful details balance beauty and practicality—from concealed storage and dedicated prep zones to spaces designed for both large gatherings and quiet evenings at home.

At the center of the living area, a new fireplace anchors the space and introduces warmth, architectural character, and additional storage. Nearby, a glass-enclosed wine room showcases the homeowners’ collection while serving as a focal point for entertaining. Rich materials, layered textures, and a cohesive palette create visual continuity across the entire level, blending timeless design with modern functionality.

The result is a home that feels larger, brighter, and more connected—designed to support everything from casual family dinners to celebrations with friends, all while embracing the beauty of its Pacific Northwest setting.
