Tween Bath
Designed for two growing preteens, this lower-level bathroom balances durability, functionality, and timeless style. The homeowners wanted a space that could adapt alongside their children—feeling equally appropriate for teenagers today, young adults tomorrow, and guests for years to come. Inspired by the home’s original 1959 mid-century architecture, the design embraces clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful simplicity.
While modest in size, the renovation focused on maximizing every inch of the space. Strategic planning allowed for a dramatic increase in storage and countertop area, creating a generous vanity that better supports the realities of a busy shared bathroom. Expanding the shower footprint and introducing integrated storage enhanced both comfort and usability, while subtle architectural adjustments helped the room feel brighter, taller, and more open.
A palette of slate-inspired surfaces, warm oak tones, and crisp white finishes creates a look that feels fresh yet enduring. Durable materials were selected to withstand daily use while maintaining a refined aesthetic. Layered textures, generous mirrors, and carefully considered details contribute to a spa-like atmosphere that elevates the everyday routine.
