West Seattle Tudor
Nestled within a 1926 Tudor home, this kitchen renovation balances historic character with the demands of modern family life. The homeowners loved the home’s traditional architecture and collected treasures but needed a kitchen that functioned more efficiently for cooking, storage, and everyday routines—including life with a beloved dog.
Working within the compact footprint, the design focused on making every square inch work harder. By removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room, the spaces now feel connected while maintaining the home’s architectural integrity through the introduction of a Tudor-inspired archway. The former kitchen table area was transformed into dedicated prep and storage space, creating a more functional environment for cooking and entertaining.
Throughout the project, original details were thoughtfully preserved and celebrated. Salvaged leaded glass panels from the dining room built-in were incorporated into new cabinetry, creating a meaningful connection between old and new. Custom inset cabinetry, warm mahogany accents, and layered finishes reinforce the home’s traditional roots while introducing a fresh palette that reflects the homeowners’ love of color.
The result is a timeless kitchen that feels as though it has always belonged to the home—honoring its Tudor heritage while supporting the way this family lives today.
