Return to Classics

Originally constructed in 1979, this classic Medina home underwent a substantial but poorly executed remodel in 2010, utilizing subpar materials and neglecting the inherent architectural charm and character. However, our recent renovation has revitalized the property, starting with a redesigned first-floor layout. This involved expanding the entrance and adding two feet to the kitchen at the back of the house; resulting in an improved floor plan that better accommodates the family’s needs. The renovation entailed a complete overhaul of the first floor, which included reorganizing rooms and spaces.

A key focus of the remodel was the kitchen, which now features a spacious prep island with seating and a relocated powder room that makes room for a large pantry while maintaining the kitchen’s open feel. New 9-foot bifold doors seamlessly connect the kitchen and family room with the outdoors, enhancing the spaces with abundant natural light. Chef’s appliances and quartz countertops ensure durability.

Special care was taken in preserving the home’s traditional essence while incorporating transitional elements. New millwork, such as stair paneling and entry moldings, echoes the home’s traditional exterior. The redesigned powder room, now equipped with a shower for guests, features a vanity that appears as if it has always existed, a beautiful piece of furniture. Timeless design elements like classic white kitchen cabinets and light stone contribute to the home’s enduring appeal.

The primary bath also received updates in keeping with the home’s character. Although the floor plan remained largely unchanged, we introduced a freestanding tub, complementing the existing shower. The dual vanities were retained but optimized for storage, incorporating fresh yet timeless details. The use of natural stone and polished nickel plumbing fixtures throughout the bath adds a touch of elegance and durability, ensuring its relevance for years to come.
